SP Velumani, Minister of Municipalities and Rural Development inaugurated the Swachhta Hi Seva, campaign at the Gandhipuram Bus stand.
The fortnight long campaign is to be conducted from September 17- October 2, culminating on Gandhi Jayanthi day and it will spread the message of “Cleanliness is service” and involve the general public and other stake holders in the clean up campaign.
Miniser Velumani inspected the cleaning up of the bus stand using a suction water tanker and sweeing of the bus stand environs by sanitary workers.

Swachata Hi Seva clean-up campaign would be under taken in schools, colleges, government offices, hospitals, tourists spots and campaign will stress on using toilets and put an end of open defecation.

District Collector T.N.Hariharan, P.R.G.Arun Kumar legislator (Coimbatore North) Aarukuti, legislator Kaundampalayam, P.Gandhimathi, Deputy Commissioner City Corporation took part in the campaign launch.
